SH Studio: Commercial Design

Some designers believe residential and commercial projects are two completely different beasts. At Soucie Horner, we respectfully disagree. In fact, the design process – and the end result – is often more alike than you might think, whether we’re working on a single-family home on Chicago’s North Shore, or a rental apartment building such as Wolf Point East in the heart of the city.

Library Ladders

There is always that hard to reach place in your home where you have to lug out the very unattractive, yet necessary and functional ladder. It could be a storage space lofted above a room, a home library or built in bookcase showcasing antiquities and relics from your travels, a wine cellar or exposed kitchen shelving. The solution to that Home Depot ladder tucked away in the utility closet? Library ladders, of course.

A Nod to the Oscars

With the Oscars just a few days away, we have quite a bit of movie watching to do so we can informatively wage in on our Oscar bets. “The Revenant” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” are serious contenders to receive an Oscar, with 12 nominations and 10, respectively.
