Stateside

Lake Bluff, Illinois

Originally a summer home for the Swift family, this 1910 residence expresses the continental leanings of its owners – one-time London expatriates, and devotees of traditional English style. To focus attention on a vast assortment of collections and furnishings, a complete gut renovation was necessary to create a cohesive architectural backdrop. Only then did a meticulous program of editing, reupholstering, and repurposing commence, yielding charming, eclectic interiors punctuated by the addition of tortoiseshell-glazed walls, waxed paneling, and custom-built fireplace mantles.
