Glass Act

Just as it bridges home and shoreline, this example of modern lakefront architecture in Michigan connects generations. Built beside her parents’ vacation home—where one half of our client duo spent her childhood—it’s a clean, crisp, contemporary interpretation of everything that makes lakeside living so special.

A notable collection of art figures prominently in the design of the home, supplying color to a mostly neutral palette – along with unexpected lakeside sophistication.

Repetition of materials – in this case warm woods in doses both large and small – enhances a comforting sense of continuity from room to room.

Quiet spaces abound, as seen here. Relaxation, work, and rest are all accommodated in style.

Stunning in its serenity – thanks in part to water-filled views – this bedroom is a calming retreat in which to begin and end each day.

Given its role as a vacation get-away and family gathering spot, the home’s furnishings were selected to welcome guests with ease. An upholstered bench makes for a perfect reading spot or a place to put on shoes. A bunk room makes hosting overnight visitors a breeze.

Entertaining-oriented outdoor spaces for dining and relaxation received the same thoughtful attention to livability and style as indoor spaces – including, in some cases, handcrafted SHIIR rugs.
